Drums need more volume

Perhaps it's the compression rate or just the nature of the song, but once the guitars come in, I can hear nothing but the ride cymbal. As is, the song is pretty solid - I especially like the clean section with the bell in the background. The guitars are just a bit too loud in the mix with the drums far too quiet.

VGstudiosTeam responds:

Ah yes, I've had so many problems with drums. I've been doing them in program... and its very hard to mix lol. But I think when I actually do this song, I'm going to remix everything, and have the drums out front. I plan on making this really epic :D lol

Interesting

Reminds me a bit of Violent Work of Art and how they integrate electronics into their metal. Very cool combo, well mixed, and I like the subtle electronics in the background of the chorus.

Definitely needs vocals and if done well, I'd give this the 10 instead of a 9!

Jakisdead responds:

Wow I don't know them but I'll have to check it out!
I'm glad you liked it, and yes vocals will come one day!

YES!

Awesome brutal riffs that inspire audible visions of Meshuggah. This is one of the best compositions I've heard on here! Even the softer meandering part evokes the jazz styles of their softer parts. I can't recommend it enough, wish it had some vocals! 5/5

It made me lol

The lyrics are great and fit perfectly with the vocal style. The parody that it creates is lol-worthy and a catchy tune to listen to, nice deep raw death metal style. 5/5

Zakimations responds:

Thanks for the great review

Astonished that this is rated so high

Honestly, the sound quality is pretty bad, the riffs are generic, the vocals sound pretty terrible. That's all fine and dandy, but how the heck is this above a 4.00 right now? Really, there is no redeeming quality to this. This is not metal, this is late night random wankery that should never have been submitted. 0/5

Hrm, mixed bag

On one hand, it sounds a lot like Job For A Cowboy - a blessing and a curse, since they lack good songwriting abilities and their vocalist relies too much on the squeal. The same flaws here - good musicianship and a lot of potential but it seems wasted by the poor vocal approach. 3/5

BuryYourFace responds:

did u just compare me to fucking JFAC? and did you just say my songwritting is shit? I fuckin hate you... well thanx for the review asshole. Hrm, heres your mixed response

Creepy metalcore?

Well, I normally don't much care for metalcore but the way the style is injected into this song is pretty solid and fits extremely well with the black influences. Love the keyboards, they add a haunting quality that is awesome. I also really like the tone and key you chose to use for the song. 5/5

Strange?

I'd normally think this were trite, derivative crap if not for you acknowledging that there would be a gay chorus and cheesy lyrics, and how it is totally unoriginal and done before. For that, I give you a 4/5 because it is very well done.

That riff... so infectious!

The growls sound terrific, especially the dual-attack. The intro riff that is used throughout is awesomely infectious. I'd love to hear this with some real drums! 5/5

MindOverMatt responds:

Thanks, this riff was written by our awesome rhythm guitarist, Chris Davis. We'll have another recording of this one day!

Umm... yes?

As a huge Cradle fan, and a metal fan in general, this was quite terrific! While at first a bit put off by the vocals being so low, I realize I should take them at face value, and they do sound pretty solid. Why this isn't higher up on the metal list, I don't know. 5/5 from me!

Aslan-Emanuel responds:

Wow. Thanks dude! I can understand why the low vocals would sound weird at first. Especially if you don't know why. I decided to screw around with the song, and lowered it 8 semi-tones, and liked how it sounded. Then I thought, "I wonder what it would sound like recorded like this?" So, I did it myself. That's why I have the growls in there. But, the shriek was a must. ;) Any Dani fan would agree.
But, thanks for your support.
I'm actually working on a Gilded C cover (the lyrics are re-written so my parents don't get mad. Lol.) I have the music, but I need to practice the vocals a lot before I can attempt something as awesome as that.
Anyways.

Stay metal and brutal, dude! \m/
And, thanks for the review!

I rate almost all covers "0" immediately, because it does not take much work or effort to cover a song. Unless it's an interesting song choice done in an interesting way, it does not merit a favorable rating. Also, fuck -core.
